Mohana K. Mutu

Mohana graduated with a degree in Law LL.B (Hons) from the University of London in 1996 and obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice from the Legal Profession Qualifying Board, Malaysia in the following year. She read law in the Chambers of Messrs Kalai & Partners. She was admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 30th January 1999. While she was there, she had an exposure to civil and criminal litigation.

She commenced her legal practice as a Legal Assistant at Messrs David Lingam & Co where she was given the opportunity to attend to various types of property transactions including sale and purchase of properties with the corresponding banking and financing aspects as well as corporate matters. She explored further in the conveyancing forte by joining Messrs Rastam Singa & Co and there she handled a substantial portfolio of conveyancing matters with the emphasis on the preparation of sale and purchase agreements, wills and trust deeds as well as loan and security documentation and developer’s projects. For a brief period, she had held a corporate legal executive position in BMD Holdings Sdn Bhd, a trading company and there she was exposed to drafting, perusing, drawing Commercial Agreements and advising on legal issues.

Mohana joined Messrs V Pury & Bala (now known as Kamil Hashim Raj & Lim) as a conveyancing legal assistant in January 2005 and thereon she has been specialising in all conveyancing matters involving sub-sale cases, developer’s projects, Islamic and Conventional loan documentation of almost all major financial institutions in Malaysia for both residential and commercial properties and drafting of the sale and purchase agreement of commercial and industrial lands and factories. In 2011, she became a partner and was entrusted with the task of heading the firm’s conveyancing department which had since expanded to become one of the firm’s main areas of practice.

Throughout her years of practice, she had accumulated extensive knowledge and vast experience in all aspects of real estate and loan security documents. She is also well versed in both conventional and Islamic banking procedures and she has received a certificate of participation from the National Symposium on Islamic and Finance jointly organized by the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia and the Bar Council in 2010. Mohana’s legal practice is deeply anchored on the pillars of honesty, integrity, good service and humility.
